As Tatas are working towards updating Air India in all aspects to improve customer experience So Air India is  planning to upgrade their fleets for better operational cost

As of now, Air India has mix Fleet of narrow and wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 787, 777 Airbus A320, and Also ATR 72 under their alliance air  

"Bloomberg and Reuters have reported that Airbus and Boeing's officials met with Tata representatives privately for an order including Airbus A350-900s and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner."

This is the part of upgrading the old fleet with a new aircraft to meet the future requirement and make the customer experience better 

As Boeing 787-9 have good fuel efficiency with is beneficial for the airline in long haul flight and airbus A350 is also an excellent aircraft for the Airline operations
